Quantum Computers and the Future of Blockchain Technology

Building a scalable quantum computer is one of the most challenging endeavours of our time. These machines hold extreme promise in providing a speedup for various computational problems which are extremely hard to solve classically. In particular, they pose a risk for existing blockchain consensus protocols, like Bitcoins proof of work, yet offer interesting alternatives, too.

Jan Ole, PhD candidate in Physics, will join us to give a brief outline of quantum computing hardware developments, as well as a primer on how this might affect future blockchain security and design.
